About Art & Culture
You cannot be bored here and our central location for Western MA and the Berkshires make us the perfect home base for your exploration.
Art, theater, history and music - are what makes this area unique! Tour Easthampton City Arts, Gateway City Arts, the UMass Fine Arts Center, Smith Art Museum, and attend one of the area's monthly Art Walks. Plan your stay around who's playing at the Calvin, Iron Horse, Mountain Park, Paradise City Arts Fest, or in the summer, head to the Ko Festival or area Jazz or Shakespeare Festivals or Look Park's summer Pines Theater performances. Buy ART and handmade items and gifts from the Arts & Industry, Snow Farm, Eastworks and Mill Building seasonal Studio Art tours! If you love museums or outdoor art visit the lovely sculpture of Sojourner Truth located nearby on Pine Street in Florence which honors her and the region's abolitionist past. Visit Historic Deerfield, Springfield Museums, Sturbridge Village, or Hancock Shaker Village.
Do what many of our guests do, and make our bed and breakfast your hub. Head west to visit Mass MOCA, Tanglewood the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Chesterwood the home and studio of Daniel Chester French, or Jacob's Pillow then come back to enjoy local food and let us help you plan your next day's adventure.
More of a reader? We love our many area bookstores, and can suggest amazing book stores including Raven, Broadside, and of course, the Montague Book Mill. Love children's books or are you here visiting the grandkids? Visit the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst or the new Dr. Seuss Museum, part of the Springfield Museums complex. And of course, visit the Emily Dickinson Museum and tour both her home and that of her brother who lived next door.
We have maps and keep visitor's guides in each of the rooms. There is so MUCH to do here you may want to extend your stay.
