Changes since COVID Pandemic

What You Should Know before You Arrive

Post COVID Changes

To our valued guests,

Starlight Llama Bed & Breakfast closed for the pandemic, reopened and we are welcoming guests again. We are vaccinated (hooray!) and appreciate knowing that you are, too. We still take the variants seriously and are adhering to the safety protocols set by the Commonwealth as this virus is still here, but we have made several changes permanent. Contact us with any questions at starlightllama@gmail.com. Note that the rules set by the Governor or other public health experts may change without notice, and if circumstances, such as a local rise in variants occur, we may be required to revise how we operate, or who knows, temporarily close again. Should that happen, we will keep in touch and fully refund you!

Guest requirements:

  • Guests are no longer required to wear masks when walking through the hallway, but we will wear one when we greet you.
  • Access to the kitchen or the main part of the house is not allowed. Guests, friends and family are not allowed inside the main part of our house.
  • We also ask that no other family/friends come into guest rooms if we have other guests (of course they can remain in their car or sit with you outside).
  • Payment must be contact-less, so we will charge your card when you make your reservation.
  • Yes, you may still walk the grounds and to the cabin and enjoy the view of Mount Tom.

Per state law we were prohibited from an enormous variety of things, from touching your luggage to putting out brochures.  We have kept up with some of that, but that is mostly over.

Breakfast

The greatest pandemic changes affect breakfast.  Instead of coffee and conversation, breakfast is now delivered ‘picnic style’ outside your room in a closed cooler or picnic basket. Options may include: Orange juice, yogurt cups, fresh fruit, bagels with cream cheese, jam or butter, muffins, apple-cider French toast, pumpkin-spice or lemon-blueberry pancakes, baked eggs, and more. For our vegan guests, we offer versions of the above or baked oatmeal, steel-cut oats and fruit, or scrambled tofu & veggies. All items (except bananas) will be put into a cooler with clean ice packs. Throughout our thirteen+ years of operation, we have offered this “picnic style” breakfast for guests who needed to leave early to catch a plane or take an early morning class, and all have said this was a wonderful way to start their day. Ironically, people appreciated being able to eat when they want to, not when we are ready, and John decided that this would be the permanent way to serve breakfast.  Since John's accident and sudden passing, Dee will maintain this tradition.

To make you as comfortable as possible, and give you flexibility, we have added Keurig coffee/tea makers, toasters and microwaves to each room. Coffee or tea are available 24/7.  We just ask that you turn off the power switches to all appliances to save power, especially the Keurigs, which will continually reheat water. If you have celiac, please let us know and we can set out a dedicated toaster. We are off the grid, and power is limited, so there are no refrigerators in the rooms. If you bring your own cooler and ice packs, we can swap your ice and refreeze it for you.

For safety:

  • John installed automated outside lights for the parking area and walkways and in the hallway to your room so you do not have to touch any switches.
  • Rooms are required to be empty for a minimum number of hours before and after your visit. This may mean that while a room you want is unoccupied but is not available.
  • Children over the age of 12 are welcome, but rooms accommodate a maximum of two people per room, so may need their own room.
  • Pets are not allowed, even in cages or crates.
  • Starlight Llama remains smoke-free in the building, grounds, and of course, the woods. We charge a minimum of $450 if the room/bedding smell of smoke. (Same for marijuana.)
  • Occupancy is now limited to TWO people per room, as there is no longer space for a cot.
  • Because guests are no longer allowed in the main part of the house, the Lavender Room is closed.  Check out the remaining rooms here.

We appreciate all efforts being made to deal with the lingering effects of this pandemic. If you feel ill or believe you may have been exposed to the virus, except for graduation/holiday weekends, we will cancel your reservation without penalty, and as always, if we can fill the room, we won't charge you. Thank you.
